MATT: DIANE STANLEY’S DECK HAS A PERFECT VIEW OF THE RIVER AND THE INVESTIGATION THAT IS BEING ASSISTED BY THE FBI’S UNDERWATER SEARCH AND EVIDENCE RESPONSE TEAM OUT OF NEW YORK. WHILE BILLERICA POLICE HELP DIRECT TRAFFIC ON THE RIVER STREET BRIDGE. WHICH IS CLOSED TO ONE LANE. >> WE HAVE SEEN THEM SEARCHING BECAUSE WE ARE NEAR THE PRISON. EVERY ONCE IN A WHILE SOMETHING GOES ON OVER THERE AND YOU SEE THEM SEARCHING, BUT NOTHING LIKE THAT RECENTLY. MATT: FBI OFFICIALS ADDING THAT SINCE THE INVESTIGATION IS ONGOING, THEY WILL NOT BE PROVIDING ADDITIONAL DETAILS BUT THAT TO EASE ANY CONCERNS FROM THE PUBLIC ARE SHARING THAT THERE IS NO THREAT TO PUBLIC SAFETY AND THAT INVESTIGATORS ARE NOT LOOKING FOR HUMAN REMAINS. >> I’M NOT WORRIED BECAUSE THERE’S TONS OF PEOPLE AROUND AND I BELIEVE THE FBI IS GOING TO PROTECT ME AND I’M NOT GOING TO HAVE TO WAIT. FBI search in Concord River forces traffic disruptions in Billerica bridge
FBI officials are conducting a search in the Concord River on Monday and are warning of traffic disruptions on and around a bridge in Billerica, Massachusetts.The FBI’s Underwater Search and Evidence Response Team out of New York is assisting with an FBI Boston investigation, officials said. The team is searching the Concord River for specific evidence in an ongoing investigation that requires the temporary closure of one lane on the River Street Bridge during active search hours."We recognize the traffic disruptions this may cause and are working as expeditiously as possible to complete the operation. We appreciate the public’s patience as we conduct this important law enforcement activity," the FBI said in a statement. Officials said they are not looking for human remains, and there is no associated threat to public safety."We’ve seen them searching because we’re near the prison, so every once in awhile something goes on over there and we’ve seen them searching but not in big numbers and not recently," said Diane Stanley, of Billerica.
