The Bihar School Examination Board (BSEB) will release the Class 12 board exam result on March 21. Once released, students will be able to check their scores at the official BSEB website — secondary.biharboardonline.com.
According to the data provided by the Bihar Board, the overall pass percentage has seen both increase and decrease in the past four years. While the pass percentage had increased from 79 to 80 per cent in 2020, 2021 had seen a decline to 78 per cent. However, 2022 brought good news as the pass percentage increased once again to 80 per cent.

In 2022, BSEB Class 12 recorded a passing percentage of 80.15 per cent, which was a significant increase from the 2021 result. The pass percentage of girls was 83.39 per cent, and 78.04 per cent for boys. While girls had a higher overall pass percentage, boys topped all three streams — in Arts, Sangam Raj scored with 483/500 marks, in commerce, Ankit Kumar Gupta topped with 473/500 marks while Science stream saw two toppers – Saurav Kumar and Arjun Kumar with 472/500 marks.
Additionally, a total of 4,52,171 students got first division, 5,10,831 students bagged the second division while 99,550 students secured the third division. A total of 13,25,749 students appeared in the BSEB exam.
In 2021, a total of 78.04 per cent of students had cleared the intermediate exam successfully. With a pass percentage of 80.57, girls fared much better than boys, whose pass percentage was 75.71 per cent. However, unlike last year, girls dominated the merit list in 2021.
This year, over 13,18,227 students appeared for the intermediate (Class 12) exam, out of which 6,36,432 were girls and 6,81,795 were boys. Once the result is declared, the passing percentage and distribution of girls versus boys category candidates will also be declared. The pass percentage of the arts stream was at 77.97 per cent, a whopping 91.48 per cent in the commerce stream, and 76.28 per cent for the science stream.
The overall passing percentage was 80.44 per cent in 2020. In 2020, a total of 12,04,834 students appeared for the Class 12 exams out of which 6,56,301 were boys and 5,48,533 were girls. A total of 4,43,284 students have passed in the first class, 4,69,439 students in the second class and 56,115 students in the third class.
In the science stream, as many as 2,24,971 candidates cleared the exam in the first division, while 1,62,471 secured the second division and 3,601 candidates secured the third division. The overall pass percentage from the science stream was 77.39 per cent. Additionally, in commerce 93.26 per cent students passed, while in science 77.39 per cent passed and in Arts, the percentage was 81.44. In terms of the first divisions, Arts had 1.75 lakh students in the first division with commerce at 43,296 and science at 2,24,971 students in the first division.
In 2019, the total passing percentage for Class 12 marks was 79.76 per cent, and a total of 10.19 lakh students successfully passed the exam. In 2019, 81.20 per cent (5,35,110 candidates) students passed from the science stream, 93.02 per cent (59,153 students) from the commerce stream and 76.53 per cent (4,25,500 students) from the arts stream.
The overall pass percentage was 52.95 per cent. Nearly 7,258 students secured first division in the Commerce stream (33.98 per cent). There were 25,109 students who grabbed the second division, and 3,989 students in the third division. In 2018, 47.05 per cent students failed in Bihar Board Class 12 examination.
