AIADMK General Secretary Edappadi K Palaniswami said Tuesday his party will emerge victorious in the 2024 Lok Sabha polls in Tamil Nadu. Palaniswami, who participated in a public meeting in Coimbatore, accused the ruling DMK of dynasty politics and said it is only in the AIADMK a common cadre could rise to the top post in the party and could even become the state’s chief minister.

“Our party is one which aims to serve the public, it’s for the downtrodden and poor people. No matter what election may come next, the AIADMK will emerge victorious,” Edappadi said.

“Including Puducherry, we should win all the 40 seats in the upcoming Lok Sabha polls. We should work hard to make the AIADMK and alliance candidates win,” he added.

Claiming that former Tamil Nadu chief ministers and AIADMK leaders M G Ramachandran and J Jayalalithaa were pioneers in introducing many welfare schemes in the state and worked for the public, the Leader of Opposition also said DMK leaders work only for their own families.

“The DMK is functioning like a company. (Chief Minister M K) Stalin is the Chairman of that company and (Minister) Udhayanidhi Stalin and (MP) Kanimozhi are the directors. They occupy the party posts and are also part of the governance,” he said.

Festive offer

Edappadi said within two years of assuming power in the state, the Stalin-led DMK government has earned the wrath of the public and they wanted this government to be removed. He said the AIADMK gave a facelift to several public infrastructure facilities, but the current government with a puppet chief minister has achieved nothing so far. He claimed that property, electricity, and house taxes have been increased by the current regime causing much trouble to the people.

The AIADMK leader said the Metro Rail project in Coimbatore was first proposed by their government but Stalin is falsely claiming that it is an initiative of his government. He said a detailed project report (DPR) was prepared as well but unfortunately before they could come up with the next set of measures the government changed.
