Driver accused of fatal hit-and-run in Madison Heights arrested

A 40-year-old man is dead and a suspect is in custody after a hit-and-run Wednesday night in Madison Heights, police said.

Just before 10 p.m., officers responded to the scene near Dequindre and 12 Mile, authorities said in a news release Thursday.

Police found the pedestrian in the road but the driver had fled, officials said.

The pedestrian was transported to Ascension Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

The vehicle involved was found in Warren and the 32-year-old male driver was taken into custody.

No names were immediately released.

Police said more information will be released once the driver is arraigned.
