Driver dies after crash into wall near I-94 in Detroit, state police say

A woman died early Monday after her vehicle crashed into a wall near Interstate 94 and Livernois in Detroit, Michigan State Police said.

According to a preliminary investigation, the woman exited the freeway at Livernois and drove straight into a wall instead of negotiating a curve.

Medics took the woman to a hospital, where staff pronounced her dead.

Troopers said the driver was not wearing a seatbelt and they found an open alcohol container in the vehicle with her.

Officials said they are working to notify her kin and are waiting for the results of an autopsy.
