Man charged in fatal hit-and-run in Madison Heights

A Warren man has been charged in connection with a fatal hit and run last week in Madison Heights.

Raiyan Chowdhury, 32, was arraigned through 43rd District Court on two felonies: failure to stop at scene of accident resulting in serious impairment or death, a five-year felony; and tampering with evidence, a four-year felony. the police department said.

Around 10 p.m. Wednesday, Thomas Kiogima Jr. of Clinton Township was found in a roadway near Dequindre and 12 Mile roads, police reported.

A white Tahoe had fled the scene and the 40-year-old was transported to Ascension Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

The Madison Heights and Warren police departments located the white Tahoe in Warren and Chowdhury was arrested.
