Dating is a culture that has been there since time immemorial, but we can all agree that the modern type of dating is very different from dating in the olden days.

The current dating culture has mostly changed due to social media exposure and a bigger percentage being influenced by Western culture.

People date for different reasons, some do it for love, others because of peer pressure, some feel lonely hence why they date, and others for business purposes.

In this generation, being loyal is considered uncool and therefore, some prefer to date several partners at once, and to some extent, it is normaised.

This makes it hard for some people to get genuine people who want to date one person and get married.

The star interviewed some people and got their opinions on the matter.

"I simply chose to stay single because the boys of this generation majority of them don't want to settle down and be loyal to one partner. They want to practice polygamy like our ancestors, but they have to wake up, this is the 21st century," *Keitan Ivy said.

Ivy also stated that a lot of people these days simply date for status and money, basically a relationship for convenience.

"Everyone wants to date so that they can post on social media or so that they don't feel left out according to societal standards," Ivy said.

"Heartbreaks also play a huge part in making dating hard, one minute someone is making your relationship exclusive the next minute he or she is cheating on you," *Tracey Mutheu said.

In an interview with a dating expert James Mbugua, he said dating is not as difficult as people perceive it, "If you say something is difficult, then it will be difficult."

Gen Zs have no relationship skills and therefore, they cannot relate with real-life people as most of their time is spent on the phone.

They live life through gadgets rather than experiencing life in real-time.

'This generation also dates for the wrong purposes like for instance sex which has been popularized all over social media," he said.

"So before dating, we need to sit down, stay away from our devices learn how to socialize and figure out why we want to date to have a successful relationship," Mbugua said.

"We simply do not know how to relate with a human on human level, people should switch off their devices and go to improve their relationship skills," Mbugua opined.

Everything has its challenges including dating but with time, solutions to these problems shall be found and not everyone has this terrible mindset about dating therefore girls and boys should not give up.
