Milwaukee Bucks Injury Report: Veteran Guard Playing Through Torn Wrist After All

The Milwaukee Bucks' 2023-24 season has been a strange one, especially considering that they made a switch at the head coaching position partway through the year. But Milwaukee has picked themselves up and currently sits as the 2nd seed in the Eastern Conference standings. They are led by their two star players, Giannis Antetokounmpo and Damian Lillard, but have a cast of quality role players around them.

One key player for Milwaukee is veteran guard Patrick Beverley, who has provided them with a nice touch off the bench this season. Beverley is known for his hounding defense and energy, which has translated nicely to what Milwaukee is looking to accomplish. However, just a few days ago, Beverley's tenure with the Bucks seemed to be in jeopardy.

In an appearance on his Barstool Sports show The Pat Bev Podcast With Rome, Beverley revealed that he was dealing with a torn wrist that was projected by doctors to sideline him for months. This would have been a massive blow to the Bucks' chances in the Eastern Conference, but Beverley has decided he will play through the injury after all. He announced the news on the social media page for his podcast.

During the original announcement, Beverley seemed optimistic that he could play through the injury and it looks like he was right. He knows his body very well and likely doesn't want to give up a chance to truly compete for a championship. However, he will need to be careful to not make things worse while playing.

The 12-year veteran isn't the youngest guy on the floor anymore (he's 35), so any major injury could be detrimental to his career. Beverley isn't the same player that he once was during his All-Defensive Team prime, but he could still serve his role nicely come playoff time.

He brings plenty of playoff experience to the table, as he has only missed the postseason one time in his career. This came last season, as the Chicago Bulls failed to win two play-in games to reach the official postseason bracket.

Beverley was acquired by the Bucks from the Philadelphia 76ers for point guard Cameron Payne and a future second-round draft pick. He is on a one-year minimum contract at the moment, so he will be playing to earn another deal over the summer. Through 19 games with Milwaukee, Beverley has averaged 5.1 points, 2.9 rebounds, 2.2 assists, 0.7 steals and 0.6 blocks over 19.6 minutes played per game.

The former University of Arkansas product will be looking to make a direct impact down the stretch for the Bucks. His toughness has never been questioned and playing through this new injury certainly won't allow it to be anytime soon.
