CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – The Carolina softball team outlasted Longwood in a midweek slugfest on Wednesday evening in Anderson Stadium, defeating the Lancers 11-9. With the win, the Tar Heels (25-13, 6-9 ACC) improve to 19-6 at home.

Redshirt sophomore Isabela Emerling led Carolina with a career-best three hits, tallying five RBIs for the third time this season and slugging her 13th home run. Emerling now has 50 RBIs on the season, the most by a Tar Heel since Kendra Lynch (68) in 2017.

Graduate Abby Settlemyre (3-for-3), senior Carsyn Snead (2-for-3) and junior Alex Coleman (2-for-3) were the other three Tar Heels who had a multi-hit outing against Longwood.

Freshman Janelle Wilson earned her first career win in the circle, tossing 3.2 innings of relief, tallying a pair of strikeouts, allowing four runs, three earned, and a walk.

Senior Bailey McCachren started the game, going 1.2 innings, while sophomore Kenna Raye Dark pitched the final two innings to seal the victory.

Up next, Carolina heads north for a three-game series at Pitt, kicking off Friday at 6 p.m. on ACCNX.
