The BBC News presenter Martine Croxall is taking the broadcaster to a tribunal amid age and sex discrimination claims after being off-air for more than a year.

Croxall, 55, is to begin legal proceedings against the corporation on May 1 at a two-day hearing in London.

It is set to become the most prominent tribunal against the BBC since it lost an equal pay claim brought by the presenter Samira Ahmed in 2020.

The details of Croxall’s case have yet to be made public but are expected to relate to the BBC’s decision to end her chief presenter role in February before the launch of its global news channel.
