Traffic after Severn bridge vehicle fire

There is still some queuing traffic westbound on the approach to the M4 Prince of Wales Bridge after an earlier vehicle fire. One lane remains closed due to recovery work.

Renewed appeal for man missing since Tuesday

Dyfed-Powys police are renewing their appeal for information to help them find missing man Anthony Mould from Llanelli. He is believed to have to the Three Crosses, Gower area of Swansea.

Anthony is described as approx. 6ft tall and of large build. He was last seen yesterday morning (16th April) wearing a red baseball hat, grey hoodie with black sleeves, black joggers, and black trainers.

Police presence on busy road explained

The earlier closure of Cowbridge Road West in Cardiff has been explained. Police say they were called at just after 1.30pm with a report of a manhole cover having launched into the air. No injuries were reported and PCSOs remained at the scene for traffic management. Inrix and local reports indicate the road has reopened.

National Highways has given more updates on diversions for those travelling both ways through the section of M4 in Gloucestershire closed due to a broken-down horsebox. You can read more here.

M4 closed due to broken down horsebox

The M4 on the English side of the Prince of Wales Bridge is shut for an unusual reason - a broken down horsebox. The motorway is closed in both directions between J20 (M5) and J22 (M49) says National Highways, with more information to follow.

Lane closure after electrical issue

One lane on a busy Cardiff road has been closed after an electric cable blew. Police were called just after 1.30pm to a report of a manhole cover having launched into the air on Cowbridge Road West, Cardiff.

No injuries have been reported. PCSOs remain at the scene to assist with traffic management until the road is reopened.

Cardiff City welcome promotion-chasing Southampton to the Welsh capital this afternoon.

Police incident closes Cardiff road

Police are at the scene of an incident on Cowbridge Road West, Ely, Cardiff.

The road is currently closed in both directions between junction of Cowbridge Road West and Heol Y Felin. It is expected to remain closed for some time.

Motorists are advised to avoid the area and use alternative routes where possible. Delays are expected in the area.

Police discover cannabis factory

Police officers discovered a cannabis factory during a raid of a house in a Welsh village. Around 120 plants were found at the property in Maesycwmmer.

Officers from Caerphilly north's neighbourhood policing team carried out a warrant under the Misuse of Drugs Act, yesterday.

Comedian presents first Radio 2 show

Comedian Romesh Ranganathan was presented with a giraffe costume to wear during the London Marathon on his new BBC Radio 2 show.

Ranganathan, 46, who is running on Sunday, told his first celebrity guest Rob Beckett that the fellow comedian was "shameless" in his choice of gift.

Beckett's upcoming stand-up tour is called Giraffe and to promote it he wore an inflatable giraffe costume to the Brit Awards last month.

Accident causing Newport delays

Police are dealing with a crash on Ringland Way, Newport .

It has happened on the eastbound carriageway and there is severe congestion in the area.

Gwent Police is advising people to find alternative routes for your journey.

Vehicle fire closes Pembrokeshire road

Emergency services are at the scene of a vehicle fire that has closed part of the A477 in Pembrokeshire.

Traffic Wales say that it has happened at Llanteg and are urging people to avoid the area.

Dyfed Powys Police say the road is closed from Red Roses to Kilgetty.

The 12 places in Wales where house prices are falling

House prices in Wales for 2023 reveal only two counties experienced a notable increase in the average cost of a home.

Seven counties saw the average house price remain virtually unchanged with calculated percentages of less than 1%, and 12 locations saw a more noticeable decline. Read more here.

£100m to be spent on roads, buses, cycle lanes and 20mph law

£100m is to be spent on roads, buses and active travel routes in Wales as part of a major scheme to improve transport across Wales.

The huge sum is being invested by the Welsh Government in every area of Wales in a bid to improve bus journey times, address disruptions and encourage more people to walk and cycle. More details here.

UK rejects talks on EU-wide youth mobility scheme

The Government has ruled out any post-Brexit deal that would make it easier for young Britons to live, study and work in the EU.

The European Commission said on Thursday it would seek permission from EU member states to open negotiations on a "youth mobility scheme" for UK citizens aged 18-30.

But a Government spokesperson said there was no interest from the UK side, adding that "free movement within the EU was ended".

Faletau suffers devastating blow

Taulupe Faletau's return to action ended in crushing disappointment, with the No.8 coming off injured with what looked like a serious arm injury against Ulster on Friday night.

The Wales stalwart was making his first appearance of the season for Cardiff, having broken his arm while representing Wales at the Rugby World Cup last autumn. Read the rugby morning headlines here.

Cases of 100-day cough surge by 40% in one week

Cases of whooping cough have soared by nearly half in just a week, grim new health figures show.

The disease, dubbed the '100-day cough', is surging in England and Wales as 824 Brits have so far had the illness confirmed in the week up to April 14, a rise of 40% from the 595 reported the previous week.

The south west and south east currently have the highest rates of infection, according to data from the UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA). Whooping cough, officially named pertussis, affects predominantly infants and young children, and is characterised by a whooping noise during coughing.

Tributes paid to Wales legend

Tributes have been paid to Wales and Swansea City legend Leighton James who has died aged 71.

The former winger, who also turned out for Burnley, Derby County and Sunderland throughout his career, was born in 1953 and was capped 54 times by his country, scoring 10 goals in the process. Read more here.
