We also got a first look at the new line of Sony Bravia TVs featuring Mini-LED, which makes a really strong case against OLED. And finally, Ikea revealed its Gaming Furniture Collection, so we, of course, ranked our favorites.

The latest charts from analysts at IDC show Samsung has reclaimed the top spot on the global smartphone charts for the first quarter of the year, knocking Apple down to number two. Apple was dominating the charts for a brief second. But now, Samsung has the lead with 20.8% of the global smartphone shipments for the first quarter, compared to Apple’s 17.3%. - Florence Ion Read More

The only thing left to add RGB lighting to is your desk itself.

Say what you want about gaming gear’s absolute obsession with RGB lighting on every desktop, keyboard, and laptop, but at least they’re consistent. We’ve gotten used to gaming setups awash in the glow of RGB lighting, but good old boy Razer has come out with a new extra-colorful mouse pad called the Firefly V2 Pro, a $100 pad that we realize finally completes the trinity of at-hand RGB gaming gear. You know what, to hell with the haters. Gaming gear is greater when it glows. - Kyle Barr Read More

Sony’s new Bravia 9 television boasts a very bright screen, though it’s still up to the user whether mini-LED can be as good or better than OLED.

Sony’s latest TVs are getting updates in all the expected and the least expected ways. Sony’s televisions are easily some of the best we’ve seen, but compared to competitors like Samsung, its latest screen update feels more significant than the average refresh. There’s also a lot of talk about new drivers that are supposed to give you the best color accuracy, but Sony’s also comes with a name change. Gone are the serialized letter and number naming conventions. All of Sony’s home entertainment is being lumped together under its “Bravia” monicker. More than that, Sony’s big, expensive flagship TV this year isn’t a QD-OLED refresh; it’s a mini-LED screen. - Kyle Barr Read More

It’s the year my kid gets to pick out new furniture in her room now that she’s graduating from a convertible crib to a Big Kid Bed. I’m hoping some of Ikea’s new Brännboll gaming collection, which launches in September, catches her eye. Ikea says the new furniture is inspired “by the evolving and diverse needs of gamers and those who live with them.” All gamers seem represented, from the esports trainers to cozy gamers who love to lounge around in their most comfortable pair of sweatpants. - Florence Ion Read More

Laya’s Horizon is easily one of the best games you can play on mobile devices, and it’s effectively free as long as you have a Netflix account.

Netflix’s game section is now an established part of the brand, despite how I’m constantly fielding queries of “Wait, Netflix has games,” or “How do I download the Netflix games?” every time I mention it. Okay, we have covered both of your concerns. Yes, Netflix has games, and—indeed—some of them are pretty damn good. While there are a fair few duds and boring interpretations of Candy Crush on offer, there are a fair few ports that make their Netflix version the best and cheapest way to play, especially if you’re already paying for a Netflix account. - Kyle Barr Read More
