Prince Louis' unexpected first pronouncement left his mother, Kate Middleton, astounded - and it wasn't exactly regal. The young prince has blossomed into a delightful and mischievous lad.

Royal supporters have taken pleasure in seeing the playful Louis gradually take more of the limelight, from his first spoken part to his comical shenanigans at the Platinum Jubilee, he has won over the hearts of the nation.

His loving parents have given glimpses into the life of their youngest child and their family dynamics. And it was mum Kate who once disclosed one of little Louis's first words. Louis will celebrate his sixth birthday today, on April 23.

In December 2019, Kate, the doting mother of three, chatted about her then-toddler during the shooting of A Berry Royal Christmas. She let slip that one of his earliest utterances was an adorable tribute to treasured British chef, Mary Berry.

"One of Louis' first words was 'Mary', because right at his height are all my cooking books in the kitchen bookshelf," she disclosed, reports the Mirror.

Kate even confessed that her 19-month-old was so acquainted with Berry that he would unquestionably identify her. "Children are really fascinated by faces, and your faces are all over your cooking books and he would say 'That's Mary Berry' ... so he would definitely recognise you if he saw you today," she remarked.

Berry reciprocated later on by sharing her thoughts on spending time with William and Kate for the joyful BBC special. The occasion included her whipping up some cherished holiday treats while William and Kate participated in fixing a special holiday fiesta.

Speaking to the Mail on Sunday's You magazine, she said: "I was so impressed. They really are a pigeon couple," referring to the fact that pigeons mate for life.

"It was just lovely observing them for those three days. When they are together, he's constantly touching her arm and looking over at her smiling and she's the same with him," Mary continued. "It was very sweet to see because it was so natural.

"It was easy to see that William is very proud of Catherine. He was keen to stress to me how none of his mental health charities would be what they were without Catherine, who puts so much time, effort and care into making sure everything works well."

William and Kate strive to provide Prince George, ten, Princess Charlotte, eight, and Prince Louis with as normal childhoods as possible, while also gradually introducing them to their royal duties.

The royal pair often drive their children to school and ensure that at least one parent is home when they return whenever feasible. The family isn't afraid to get their hands dirty, whether it's cooking pizza, baking (Kate is known for staying up late to bake birthday cakes for her three children), or playing outdoors.

In a 2020 conversation on the Happy Mum, Happy Baby podcast, Kate revealed that she feels happiest when "I'm with my family outside in the countryside, and we're all filthy dirty."
