Scotland's natural beauty can be seen in the rolling hills, scenic countryside and, in particular, the coastal views dotted all around the country.

Whether you live in the heart of the country or are just on a visit to the bonnie nation, chances are there's a stunning walk along a coast within arms reach.

Scotland's tourism board Visit Scotland have highlighted a beautiful scenic stroll that is less than an hour from Glasgow's city centre, described as seeing "Scotland in 57 miles".

The Loch Lomond and Cowal Way hike is located in Argyll and is less than an hour's drive from Glasgow - making it the perfect day trip for those visiting or staying in the west.

According to Visit Scotland, this walk offers "beautiful coastlines, dramatic scenery, engaging heritage, abundant wildlife, and very friendly communities along the way".

The entire walk is a whopping 57 miles altogether but if you are planning on a simple day trip then you can split the walk up into sections in order to truly enjoy the experience.

Portavadie to Tighnabruaich

Loch Fyne is a great place to visit for some stunning views

This section of the Loch Lomond and Cowal way hike is six miles in total and is an easy stroll, offering beautiful views of Loch Fyne and the Kyles of Bute.

You can also wonder in the ruins of Asgog Castle on this stroll, as well as see the remains of a gunpowder mill and a World War II tank landing ship, according to the Loch Lomond and Cowal Way website.

Tighnabruaich to Glendaruel

This section of the walk is 11 miles in total and is mainly a gentle walk with one section that takes you through some heavy woodland.

You can experience the Telford Bridge, Kilmodan Church and the Lucknow Gates on this journey with some stunning scenic views to boot.

Glendaruel to Strachur

One of the longer sections of this overall hike, the Glendaruel to Strachur stretch is 16 miles in total that explores the forests and woodland trails with a steady climb uphill.

You can also spot some woodland gardens during this week as well as some views of the ruins of Dunans Castle.

Strachur to Lochgoilhead

One of the final stretches, this eight mile hike is a steep climb to Lochgoilhead with some "challenging uphill terrain and small streams".

You are rewarded with some beautiful views, however, in the postcard fashion of Loch Lomond as well as some "dramatic views" of the Sruth Ban falls.

The final 15-mile section of this hike has three hills and some forest tracks and some rougher ground. You will see some stunning views during this stretch, including Loch Long, Loch Lomond, the Luss hills and the famous Ben Lomond in all its glory.

Other highlights of this walk include a visit to SEA LIFE Loch Lomond for those who enjoy some aquatic life. This aquarium features seven zones including the Tropical Ocean Tunnel. The TripAdvisor reviews of this day out have praised the experience and also highlighted the helpful nature of the staff.

One review of the SEA LIFE aquarium read: "Family went to celebrate my granddaughters 2nd birthday . It was perfect for her. She spent most of the time saying Oh Wow. Wonderful experience. Staff were amazing and helpful. We will definitely go again."

Another agreed, writing: "We had a fantastic time, my 6year old granddaughter had an amazing time. The girl as you came through the door was extremely helpful and made the photos fun."
