Barry Keoghan is a bit of a pleasant fashion enigma. He doesn't seem like the kinda guy who'd end up in some wild fits—which is exactly why it's all the more powerful when he swerves sartorially. And at an event in Milan earlier this week hosted by Omega, his ever-tightening embrace of the left-field showed resulted in another banger. It felt like Zorro, a 17th-century Tuscan prince, and a 3 a.m. club overlord rolled into one.
At a watch event, it'd be remiss not to mention the timepiece first, though. The Saltburn star is a giant Omega fan. He already owns both the Seamaster Aqua Terra (which is encrusted with nearly 400 diamonds as well as some rubies) and the De Ville Tresor (in Moonshine Gold), but here he sported a brand new model: the just-released Omega Speedmaster 38, with a beautiful green dial and a cascade of diamonds around the bezel.
But it was Keoghan's Versace ensemble that really turned heads. The silky black shirt featured two openings on the left and right, a gloriously oversized collar, and a rakishly loose fit. Down south, he jumped into some matching trousers, with fastenings that run across the entire leg. It's sexy, it's genuinely quite edgy, and it's giving haute Zorro cosplay vibes. Which, on a red carpet of increasingly mad fits, is a strong way to stand out and push the envelope further.
Keoghan has form in these such matters, and the Irish actor is one of menswear's most experimental dressers. He likes taking classic tailoring and giving it a twist. Earlier this year, he attended the Masters of the Air premiere in a cropped waistcoat from Dolce & Gabbana. And, just a few days later, he pulled up in a turquoise mohair sweater vest by Burberry.
As Barry Keoghan's stylist Ilaria Urbinati put it in an interview with WWD earlier this year: “He’s inherently very rebellious… He’s just sort of interesting like that and I think that he likes the idea of playing with clothes in a way that is going to be different or surprise people or that plays with the idea of what formalwear looks like.”
And, on this occasion, turns out that formalwear looks a lot like a Criollo swashbuckler with an axe to grind.
