The Dallas Cowboys used their first-round pick of Thursday's NFL draft to take Oklahoma offensive tackle Tyler Guyton.

The Cowboys originally had the 24th pick, but traded that pick to the Detroit Lions and moved back to the 29th pick. Dallas used that pick to get some support up front in Guyton.

The 6'8", 322-pound Guyton brings great size to Dallas and should be a contributor from the jump. After the pick, fans praised the Cowboys for landing him while also getting a third-round pick from the Lions.

I like it Dallas. OT Tyler Guyton One of the guys you wanted, offensive line in 1st round always pays off and picked up an extra pick.

Tyler Guyton is bigger than Tyron Smith

I liked Guyton a bit more than some of the other linemen who have been drafted already, and feel even better about that knowing he's going to the Cowboys to be further developed <a href="https://t.co/JXmcVclvnj">https://t.co/JXmcVclvnj</a>

Good addition in Guyton by the Cowboys.

Build up in the trenches, love the guyton pick for the cowboys

Okay post draft thoughts:<br><br>Not too mad at the pick, just really like JPJ. Guyton is gonna be a project like Tyler Smith, and we all know how that went. Would've been livid if we took him at 24, but we got a 3rd and took him 5 picks later. Not bad!

SM @SZMM77

remember when we took Tyler smith and everyone lost their ever loving minds for no reason? Thats how I feel again about this Guyton pick. And then they'll all go "oh I knew he was gonna be good!"<br>😂

It shouldn't be forgotten that drafting Tyler Guyton, if he starts from day one at LT, it keeps Tyler Smith at LG. <br><br>Smith can be an All-Pro tackle, but he could be a Hall of Fame guard. Keeping him there is another benefit from selecting Guyton 🤟<a href="https://twitter.com/hashtag/DallasCowboys?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">#DallasCowboys</a>

If Tyler Guyton hits, then you have the left side of the line solidified for the next 10 years

The Cowboys are desperate for improvement after a disappointing wild-card exit to the Green Bay Packers last season, and adding a talented rookie to the offensive line could help them grow in 2024.

The Cowboys have a solid option in Guyton and he could come in and immediately have an impact. Last season, he didn't allow a sack in 356 pass-blocking snaps and had a 63.7 PFF grade.

He'll look to help replace the production from Tyron Smith, who departed this offseason, and he knows that it will be a tall task.

"I feel like those are big shoes to fill from such a legendary tackle, but I'm going to work my ass off to do the best that I can," Guyton said after he was drafted, per ESPN's Todd Archer.

Dallas filled a big need by picking up Guyton, and now the team is hoping he can help them get over the hump and compete for a Super Bowl.
