An incredible opportunity to live and work on the edge of Loch Lomond has just come up.

Currently, Rowardennan Lodge is looking to hire two cook and kitchen assistants over the summer. The two full-time roles will start on May 17 and end on October 23, making them perfect for anybody looking to spend the summer in idyllic surroundings.

With its own jetty and panoramic views across the loch, Rowardennan Lodge almost looks straight out of a storybook. The lodge offers a wide range of private rooms and comfortable shared dorms, with the successful applicants benefitting from live-in accommodation.

Rowardennan Lodge is also an ideal base for exploring the Loch Lomond and Trossachs National Park, so the jobs would suit outdoorsy Scots keen to spend the summer in the great outdoors. It is also perfectly situated for climbing the magnificent Ben Lomond.

The roles themselves will involve cooking meals, cleaning and sanitising kitchen equipment, and ordering food and keeping inventory. While catering experience and a food handling certificate are ideal, they are not required.

Applicants should also be adaptable, as workloads and priorities can change during the busy periods. Strong communications skills and the ability to work well in a team are also required.

Meanwhile, in addition to Rowardennan Lodge's one-of-a-kind location, a major benefit of the positions is membership of Hostelling Scotland. This means the successful applicants can experience the same service that the lodge's guests receive during their time off.

The job listing on Indeed states: "Do you enjoy outdoor activities and exploring your surroundings in your spare time? From cities to islands, beaches to hills or mountains and all points in between, our youth hostels provide the perfect base for field trips, activity breaks or cultural tours.

"Hostelling is open to all. We are a non-profit charity and we take our responsibilities seriously, helping guests of all ages and backgrounds to discover and experience all that is Scotland."

The hostel is also popular amongst visitors, with an average rating of four out of five on travel website Tripadvisor based on 330 reviews. Guests have described it as "absolutely beautiful" and even "paradise".
