Having already addressed their offensive line by taking Oklahoma tackle Tyler Guyton in the first round of the 2024 NFL draft, Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones might have spoiled their next selection.

Speaking to reporters, Jones said Texas running back Jonathon Brooks is "high, high, high" on the Cowboys' draft board going into day two.

"In my 30 years I thought it was the best interview that I ever interviewed with a player," Jones added. "He's outstanding. And he's a great football player."

Brooks to the Cowboys has been one of the most popular player-team pairings since before the draft even started.

ESPN's Adam Schefter reported on Monday some people within the league "think it would be a surprise" if the Cowboys didn't take Brooks in the second round.

One potential concern for them is a team they know well that might also have a lot of interest in Brooks.

NFL Network's Jane Slater laid out a list of scenarios for the Cowboys based on what she was hearing, including the Philadelphia Eagles potentially taking Brooks before Dallas' pick comes up in the second round.

The Eagles pick at 50 and 53, giving them two chances to take Brooks if they covet him. Running back isn't traditionally a spot Howie Roseman prioritizes, but he's already shifted away from that notion by signing Saquon Barkley in free agency.

Of course, Barkley's presence on the roster could make it more likely the Eagles don't want to draft a running back in the second round.

Dallas, on the other hand, absolutely needs running back. After losing Tony Pollard to the Tennessee Titans in free agency, the Cowboys depth chart includes Rico Dowdle, Deuce Vaughn, Royce Freeman and Malik Davis.

Jones could look to trade up if he wants Brooks in the second round. The Cowboys have multiple picks in the third round to use in a potential move.

B/R's NFL scouting department has Brooks ranked as the 48th-best player still available after the first round of the draft.

Brooks ran for a career-high 1,139 yards and 10 touchdowns in 11 games for the Longhorns last season.
