The current World No. 2, Jannik Sinner, is enjoying one of his best seasons this year. By winning his first Grand Slam at the Australian Open this year, he made history in the tennis arena. In a recent interview, he opened up about the significant role of fitness in his profession.

The Miami Open winner recently revealed how his strict fitness regimen has been the key factor behind his rise to the top. “I am more in the gym than on the tennis court right now,Sinner said in an interview. Although he acknowledged how “every body” works differently, for him, one thing is important. “Me, for example, I have to be strong and stable.”

Sinner believes in giving one’s body time to develop as one grows older. Therefore, he firmly believes all these changes to his routine have made him grab his first-ever grand slam. And I think that’s one of the reasons why I made this extra step [of winning a Grand Slam], because physically I’ve grown.”

However, the 22-year-old has suffered from many injuries in the past. Be it hurting his knee and hip or suffering from an ankle sprain, Sinner did not have it easy on-court. So, he further admits, When I was 20, I still didn’t have the body of a 20-year-old. And you have to accept that.”

Apart from winning a grand slam as well as the Miami Open tournament, he has also shown his prowess in the Indian Wells and Monte Carlo as well.
