Urban apathy is one of the main reasons behind the low voter turnout in the National Capital Region, Delhi’s Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) P. Krishnamurthy said on Friday. Speaking at a “celebration of democracy” programme in Qutub Minar, Mr. Krishnamurthy urged people to ensure a robust turnout in the upcoming phases of the general election. The Delhi CEO’s comments came hours after ballots were cast in the Lok Sabha constituencies of Ghaziabad and Gautam Buddha Nagar, both of which recorded lower voter turnout than in 2019.
