Rory McIlroy goes full Mardi Gras with beads, beers and karaoke amid Zurich Classic win

The party never stops in The Big Easy.

After Rory McIlroy and Shane Lowry won the Zurich Classic of New Orleans in dramatic fashion, the two Irishmen continued to celebrate, indulging in an adult beverage or two while donning Mardi Gras beads.

But the highlight of their victorious extravaganza came when McIlroy decided to step up to the karaoke mic.

He belted out Journey’s most famous song, “Don’t Stop Believing,” in the media center, leading to great awe and amusement from all in attendance.

Not only can McIlroy hit the golf ball 350 yards or more, but he can also clearly sing.

His confidence must have been at an all-time high, as his win in New Orleans marked his 25th career PGA Tour victory. But he also accomplished that feat alongside Lowry, one of his best friends in the world.

“Winning any PGA Tour event is very cool, but to do it with one of your closest friends—we’ve known each other for a long, long time, probably over 20 years—to think about where we met and where we’ve come from, to be on this stage and do this together—it's a really, really cool journey that we’ve been a part of,” McIlroy said.

“It’s just awesome to be able to do it alongside this guy.”

Lowry echoed that sentiment.

“It’s nice, it’s great to get a win. It was great fun all week. Everything about it was just brilliant,” Lowry said.

“We went out there, we had loads of fun, and we won the tournament. You couldn’t ask for a better week.”

This Irish duo had one remarkable week in New Orleans. The most impressive moment may not have happened on the golf course but in the media center, where McIlroy channeled his inner Steve Perry and blew the night away.
