Barcelona star Robert Lewandowski has provided an insight into the simple message he sent the way of teammate Ferran Torres, before rounding out his hat-trick against Valencia.
Frontman Lewandowski of course proved himself the star of the show for Barcelona, on Monday night.
As much came as the Pole rattled off a trio of 2nd-half goals, to guide Xavi’s troops to a comeback victory over Valencia at Montjuïc.
His hat-trick clinching strike proved the pick of the bunch, Lewandowski bending a sumptuous free-kick into the top corner of the visitors’ net deep into injury-time.
And, in the process, the 35-year-old repaid the trust of one of his attacking partners-in-crime.
The two candidates to take responsibility of the set-piece in question against Valencia came in the form of Lewandowski, and Ferran Torres.
As the pair stood over the ball, though, the former sent something of a request to Ferran.
“Before the free-kick, I spoke with Ferran and asked him to trust me,” Lewandowski revealed to the media post-match.
And the rest, as they say, is history…
