Hollywood Insiders Vent Their Frustrations with Dwayne Johnson's Lack of Work Ethic and How He's Always Ridiculously Late

According to a report from The Wrap, Dwayne Johnson was the cause of a lot of issues while shooting his Christmas movie Red One. The production was apparently a disaster as it turned into a $250 million runaway production.

The reason behind this was Johnson’s lack of work ethic. It’s explained that the production issues ranged from Johnson’s “chronic lateness and lack of professionalism on set to producers’ inexperience.”

The report says: “According to more than a dozen insiders directly involved in the project, the Red One production was a perfect storm of problems compounded by the inexperience of the film’s lead producer Hiram Garcia and Amazon MGM feature and production executives Julie Rapaport and Glenn Gainor, who are overseeing the project.”

Insiders shared that Johnson “showed up as much as eight hours late to set on the movie — forcing the crew to shoot around him on some days. On previous films, Johnson has made a habit of peeing in a water bottle to save time, upsetting crew members.”

It was explained: “On set, away from his trailer, if he needs to pee, he doesn’t go to the public bathroom. He pees in a Voss water bottle and his team or a PA has to dispose of it.”

Damn, Johnson! As you might imagine, a spokesperson for Amazon MGM denies there were any issues and said: “Dwayne Johnson and Seven Bucks have been incredible partners on Red One—a film that audiences of all ages are going to love this holiday season.

“Our testing has been very strong — the reaction from CinemaCon speaks for itself — and we couldn’t have made it without Dwayne’s constant work and support. Any reporting that implies that we got to this point with him showing up seven-eight hours late to set is both ridiculous and false.”

Regardless of the that statement, multiple insiders say, Johnson, who thinks of himself as “the hardest worker in the room,” has developed “a reputation in the industry for his lateness and lack of professionalism on set.”

One insider who worked on Red One said: “The only thing Dwayne was consistent at was being chronically late.” Apparently, Johnson is also having a problem being on time with all of his wrestling stuff as well.

On the set of Red One, Johnson’s pattern of lateness proved more damaging.

The report explains that Johnson was late an average of seven to eight hours per day and missed several entire days of production, which caused the budget to balloon.

One insider revealed: “It was a f–king disaster,” and another added: “Dwayne truly doesn’t give a f–k.”

Johnson being late apparently isn’t new. A producer who visited the set of HBO’s Ballers shared his experience with Johnson: “They rent a location they can shoot as much as they can of other actors while they wait for him to decide if he’s coming to set.”

He added: “He was regularly three to four hours late to set. Keeping 100+ crew members waiting for no reason.” According to a third insider, in March of 2017 Johnson was six hours late to the Ballers set.

There are also reports of Johnson being ridiculously late while shooting Rampage, as an insider said: “Dwayne’s call times are never, ever published on the call sheet. It’s because one of the actors on Rampage was keeping a log of how late DJ was to set every day.”

One insider says that Johnson’s lateness issues come from the actor’s refusal to work a full shooting day, despite factoring in his three-hour daily workout routine.

The studio insider shared: “It’s his absolute refusal to work more than a four-or five-hour day,” and another said that “It’s a control thing.”

It seems like this is the reason that Johnson and Vin Diesel got into it with each other. An inside source previously said: “Vin has been having problems with The Rock because The Rock keeps showing up late for production. Sometimes he doesn’t show up at all, and he’s delaying the production.”

It doesn’t end there! Ryan Reynolds had issues with Johnson while shooting the Netflix action film Red Notice. Reynolds was “infuriated after waiting five hours for Johnson that they had a ‘huge fight,’” according to insiders.

After that fight, Johnson then stormed off set. Johnson and Reynolds apparently didn’t speak for years until they recently patched things up.

The list goes on on on as Johnson is also accused of using the budget of movies that he’s worked on to for his personal production company to shoot promo material for the XFL and his Teremana liquor brand.

The report also talks about Hiram Garcia, and how crazy it is that he went from preparing Johnson’s meals and protein shakes to leading his production company Seven Bucks.

An insider said: “Hiram went from making Dwayne’s protein shakes to running his company. If Vince [from Entourage] tried to give Turtle a real job, Hiram Garcia is what you get as a result.”

Apparently, Garcia has no idea what in the hell is going on with the projects he’s working on and has no idea how to produce.

It’s explained: “The only thing he has ever known is how to work for Dwayne. Any time he’s been in a situation where his responsibilities have expanded beyond DJ, he has crumbled.”

Hollywood insiders are obviously fed up with Johnson and working with him, and they now have no problems calling him out on his crap.

It’s pretty wild to read through all of this because Johnson has always talked about how he is one of the hardest-working actors in Hollywood. But after reading through this, it seems like people hate working with him because of his lack of work ethic.

What are your thoughts on all of this?
