Bruce Anderson is determined to leave Livingston on a high this summer – even if he might not be able to save them from the drop.

Saturday’s 2-0 Premiership win over rivals Ross County gave Livi hope and reduced the gap on the 11th-placed club to nine points with 12 to play for.

Livingston need to win their games, continuing against Motherwell at Fir Park on Saturday, and hope that County slip up.

But even if they don’t automatically drop out of the Premiership, a huge chunk of the current squad will leave at the end of this season, and that will include 25-year-old Anderson.

Anderson scored his ninth goal of the season in the 2-0 win in West Lothian, with Sean Kelly’s 53rd-minute penalty sealing a vital three points.

And he said: “You have all the boys who are out of contract, who are fighting for their futures.

“That shouldn’t really affect the way you are playing on the park. Everyone has their own motivations. We have four games left, and I’ll be going in trying to score in every game.”

Anderson has served three years in West Lothian with Livingston and will leave when his contract expires, with several offers from England amongst the options he’s weighing up.

The former Aberdeen and Hamilton striker said: “I have offers, but I will get through these last four games and wait until the summer.

“I owe it to Livingston to give my full focus to them. They took me in when no-one wanted to take a chance on me.

“I love it here. I owe it to give it my all in the next four games, and then decide when the summer comes.”

Livingston’s effort has been there to see this season, but Saturday’s win was only their fourth of a challenging season.

Anderson said: “It hasn’t been as bad as you’d think – it’s a really positive dressing room.

“I’m sure if you ask any of the boys, we are upbeat when we come in on a Monday.

“I would be lying if I said it wasn’t difficult. We’ve been bottom of the league for six or seven months, so it does take its toll.

“We are getting to the end of the season now, so we all have to stick together and take each game at a time.”

Livingston boss David Martindale last week hoped Anderson would again be a hero against County, and four of his strikes this season have been in games with the Staggies.

Anderson said: “It’s a funny one. Even the night before I play against them I almost know I am going to score.

“It’s one of the teams I always seem to get a goal against.

“What do I have against them? Well, I’ve got family from up there, so maybe that’s a wee added thing!”
