Baldur's Gate 3 could arrive for the iPad Pro in 2025

Apple announced last year that various AAA games would launch for the iPhone 15 Pro, iPhone 15 Pro Max, and select iPad models. So far, the company has done as promised, as we have seen titles like Resident Evil Village, Resident Evil 4 Remake, and Death Stranding arrive at the App Store, delivering ‘better than expected’ performance while offering top-notch visuals. However, the company is not stopping there because a rumor claims that Baldur’s Gate 3, the 2023 role-playing game that has garnered a truckload of awards and positive reviews, will arrive for the iPad Pro in early 2025.

An early 2025 release potentially means that Baldur’s Gate 3 will witness better performance on the iPhone 16 Pro, iPhone 16 Pro Max

In a review done by our very own Francesco De Meo, Baldur’s Gate 3 offers a rich story and addictive gameplay, with Larian Studios exceeding all expectations in delivering one of the best gaming experiences. That experience could arrive for the iPad Pro first in 2025, with Dame Tech stating on X that he has received a tip regarding this information. He also mentions that the game may arrive for iOS, hinting at a possible launch for the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max.

However, readers may forget that by the time Baldur’s Gate 3 releases, the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max would already be selling in a multitude of regions, so it is likely that the AAA title will be compatible with both flagships, too. Apple’s strategy for releasing the game could be directly related to its popularity. Despite launching in August last year, Baldur’s Gate 3 continues to have an active player base, with more than 61,000 engaged in it at the RPG at the time of writing.

By bringing the game to portable devices, Apple will effectively bring a mass proportion of these individuals to its platform, potentially increasing iPad Pro and iPhone sales. We expect Baldur’s Gate 3 to deliver a fluid gaming experience, even on the A17 Pro. Depending on your PC’s configuration and hardware, the game is playable on low-end GPUs, and with Apple’s MetalFX upscaling technology added to the mix, we should expect an uplift to that framerate.

Naturally, the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max will deliver better gaming performance thanks to the upgraded A18 Pro, so we will not be surprised if Apple makes the announcement later this year during its dedicated event. Then again, it is just a rumor, so we recommend treating it with a pinch of salt for now, and we will be back with more updates.
