Davina McCall has addressed some commentary about her weight on social media, with her having been supported by fans and other celebrities over her reaction this weekend.

The presenter, 56, had been met with comments about her appearance in response to a video that she had shared on Instagram on Friday. Among the reaction from viewers was that she looked "too skinny" and "so skinny" in the clip.

She reacted to some of the remarks individually, before then issuing a video message to her followers on Saturday night. Davina - who's known for shows like Big Brother - shared how she felt about people commenting on her weight, though she didn't specify which comments in particular she was responding to. Alongside the footage, she wrote in the caption of the post: "I'll probably regret posting this. I never normally do this. I'll probably leave it here for a bit and then delete …"

Sharing her thoughts, she said in the video: "I just thought I'd quickly do a post about the kind of ... I guess it is like abuse, really, that I'm getting about my weight. It's really frustrating. I feel like people post these things and then they have no consequences because they can post whatever they like and be cruel and I just have to kind of take it. I'm actually just left sitting feeling furious so I thought I'd offload here."

Davina continued: "I'm a 5ft 6in woman who weighs 61 kilos. I don't diet. I exercise. I eat relatively healthily and I enjoy sharing that journey with people. I'm 57 this year and I'm happy with the way that I look, and I feel absolutely f***ing great. And so I just thought I'd post that there."

She concluded: "I can't really do much about my neck and my face unless I fill it with filler. I don't know what to do about ... my neck is my neck. And maybe the light was bad or something and everybody's ... but all you have to do is look at the rest of my posts on my page and see that I'm not unhealthy. But this is ... this was, like, horrible. So I'm parking that there and I'm just saying maybe think before you post something. Wouldn't it be nicer to say something positive? And if you can't say something positive, don't bother."

The post has amassed more than 28,000 likes since it was uploaded on the platform on Saturday evening. Davina has also been met with supportive messages from fans and fellow celebrities in the comments section of the post.

Gabby Logan wrote: "You look bloody gorgeous." Whilst Suranne Jones said: "You're amazing." Danniella Westbrook wrote: "I take abuse daily about my face [and it's] awful. You are amazing darling and you look amazing. Much love."

Judi Love said: "It's so disgusting that they would even [dare]! You are truly amazing and beautiful. As a woman it feels like sometimes you can't win. Too big too small! Why don't they comment about all the great work you've done and doing. How you've been an advocate for women's health, voices and more."

Fitness presenter Faye Edwards said: "NEVER EVER DELETE THIS. This truthful post may make someone think twice before spreading negativity, and sometimes we got to call it out! It's sad that those negative comments come from a place of someone projecting their own insecurities. To want to put someone down because of their looks means you must be in a very dark place. It's so hurtful that there are people who think it's ok to be nasty. Thank god for friends like you who inspire and spread so much joy. Love you."

Davina had already addressed some of the commentary about her weight in the comments section of a post recently. In response to someone who appeared to express concern that she was "so skinny," she said: "Can't do anything about it. Unless I stuff my face with filler. I have a great BMI, I am healthy, look at my posts ... people are so rude ... shall I comment on your weight on one of your posts?"

She also responded to others, including one person who wrote: "I love you and everything you do, but you look too skinny. I love your approach to health and fitness [...] but!! Too much." Davina said in her reply: "I haven't lost weight?"
