  • That's all from London

Crystal Palace thrashed Manchester United and delivered a hammer blow to their European qualification hopes.

Palace dominated United thanks to a brace by Michael Olise and goals by Jean-Philippe Mateta as well as Tyrick Mitchell.

United were hapless throughout the encounter and failed to cause any threat to the Eagles who completed a league double over their opponents in a single season.

  • Erik ten Hag speaks

Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag took responsibility for the thrashing at Crystal Palace and insists he will "keep fighting" despite his uncertain future at Old Trafford.

It's clear, it's obvious, this is underperforming. We didn't act how we wanted to and it's not good enough. We are very disappointed. Our fans were behind us and we should have kept fighting like the fans did.

It's a goal that shouldn't happen because we really give clear instructions how we should defend this. They didn't bring it on the pitch. We got hammered.

There was one issue but also on the left side, there were two players doubling up on one player. That's very poor defending.

There are always reasons, everyone sees our backline - we have huge problems. At the end of the day, we have to deal with it and we should have done better.

I will keep fighting. I prepared the team in the best way I could do. It was not good enough, I have to take responsibility for that but I will find energy and prepare them for Sunday's game."

Absolutely [I'm the right man for the job]. If the right players are available, we have a good squad. We miss almost the whole backline and then we have problems.

  • Oliver Glasner reacts

Crystal Palace boss Oliver Glasner is happy with the win over Manchester United, but still wants more from his players.

Congrats to the team for the win. The first half we didn't really play well.

We opened the middle too often and they could find the pockets but we were very efficient so we scored very nice goals.

At half-time, we made two or three adaptions and the players listened.

Second half, it was much better, we had much more control, created a lot of chances and scored nice goals. It's a great win.

  • Updated Premier League table

Manchester United are now eighth in the Premier League table with a game in hand and two points away from sixth place which is the highest they can go.

United's current position keeps them away from European qualification.

Crystal Palace, on the other hand, are 14th with only five points separating them from a top-10 finish.

    More below:

  • Word from the ground

Eric Cantona's name was belted out by Manchester United fans, nearly 30 years on from his infamous kung-fu kick on a Crystal Palace fan.

But it was another enigmatic Frenchman who dealt a devastating blow to the European hopes of Cantona’s old side - and floundering Erik ten Hag's job prospects.

Michael Olise has a habit of ice-cool, hard-to-read celebrations, just like collar-up King Eric did all those years ago.

The mercurial 22-year-old was motionless and emotionless after netting a fabulous, point-saving free-kick deep into stoppage time in this fixture last season.

This term, after a sublime early opener, there was a little more to his routine as he opted to point one finger to his lips, another to his right ear and closed his eyes.

It depicted a zen-like calm and control - in contrast to the Keystone Cops he was facing.

No wonder United have Olise, who has seven Under-21 caps for France but could still play for England, high up on their summer shopping list.

Though when you watch him play with such grace like he did here, and how grim United were, you wonder why he would even consider trading places.

  • Crystal Palace vs Man Utd stats

Manchester United dominated 57 per cent of possession but did nothing against Crystal Palace.

United registered a mere seven shots and only two of them were on target.

Palace, on the other hand, produced 18 shots, 10 of which were on target.

    More below:

  • FT: Crystal Palace 4-0 Man Utd

Crystal Palace humiliated Manchester United with a dominant performance at Selhurst Park.

Palace opened the scoring after just 12 minutes when Michael Olise picked up a pass by Daniel Munoz, dribbled past Casemiro like he wasn't even there and beat Andre Onana with a clinical shot from the edge of the box.

United thought they got an equaliser when Casemiro met a corner-kick by Christian Eriksen and his awkward header went past a careless Dean Henderson but referee deemed the Eagles' goalkeeper was fouled by Rasmus Hojlund in the build-up.

Palace doubled their lead five minutes before half-time when Chris Richards played Jean-Philippe Mateta through down the left and the striker dribbled past Jonny Evans like it was nothing before hitting a powerful shot past Onana.

The Red Devils failed to pick up the tempo in the second half and so the hosts made it three in the 58th minute when a cross by Adam Wharton found Joachim Andersen who then switched to the incoming Tyrick Mitchell to finish from close range.

The Manchester giants thought they had another goal but Casemiro's header from another set-piece by Eriksen was chalked off as the Brazilian was caught offside.

And finally Olise completed Palace's triumph after 66 minutes when Munoz dispossessed Casemiro down the right and passed to Olise whose long-range shot beat a helpless Onana.
