Fans have claimed Mike Tyson is trying to cover up his loss of speed in new training footage.

Tyson will step back in the ring aged 58 on July 20 to touch gloves with YouTube boxer Paul in a fight which has surprisingly been sanctioned to take place under professional rules.

'Iron Mike' has kept fans on their toes during the build-up to the summer encounter, posting footage of him crashing the pads, which has even seen fans called for the fight to be cancelled.

A new montage with trainer Rafael Cordeiro has been posted, which Tyson captioned: “Ready or not here I come.”

Fans were quick to offer up a theory on the montage, with one writing: "Has anyone noticed every single training clip is edited after 2-3 punches to tighten up whatever his real speed of a 57 year old Tyson.

"It's almost like the Ric Flair training footage before his match. Let's see some unedited footage."

A fan agreed, writing: "Speed goes with age. This may be over quick."

One added: "It’s not even 6 seconds consecutively it’s 6 one second clips combined.

"I hope Mike prevails but Father Time is the greatest fighter of all time, he hasn’t lost yet."

A fan even concluded: "He was probably gassed for 10 mins after this clip sadly."

Some viewers leapt to his defence, with one commenting: "He’s just showing how long it will take him to introduce Jake to the floor.

One even theorised: "Yes, he is keeping the truth close to the vest."

Others were also more excited, with one suggesting: "Iron Mike shows the world that men can be super fit at 57 years old. Respect."

A final fan rounded off: "Looking great, wouldn't want to be Jake Paul right now."

Tyson has received medical warnings despite his powerful footage, with experts more concerned over his punch resistance.

The veteran already suffered a damaging end to his professional career losing three of his last four fights including his stoppage defeat to Kevin McBride in his final outing in 2005.

He returned to the ring in 2020 as part of an exhibition against Roy Jones Jr, but it was a much more well matched contest with Paul in his physical prime.

It remains to be seen how Tyson will fare, but many have urged him to remain out of the ring and risk more damage to his legacy.
