Northamptonshire County Cricket Club has bolstered its bowling attack with the signing of Indian seamer Siddarth Kaul. The 33-year-old joins the team on a short-term deal, covering their next three fixtures in the Vitality County Championship.
Proven Performer in First-Class Cricket
While Kaul has represented India in a handful of limited-overs matches, including three T20Is and three ODIs in 2018, his first-class experience is his biggest asset. He boasts an impressive record, having claimed 286 wickets in first-class cricket at a phenomenal average of 26.44. His ability to take wickets in clusters is further highlighted by his 16 five-wicket hauls throughout his career.
Kaul’s arrival comes at a convenient time for Northamptonshire, as their previous overseas seamer, Chris Tremain, has completed his four-game stint with the team. The Indian pacer is expected to seamlessly slot into the role vacated by Tremain.

Kaul expressed his excitement about joining Northamptonshire, stating his eagerness to contribute to the team’s success: “I’m very happy to be here to represent Northamptonshire and very excited to help the team win games and push for promotion,” he said. “I’m confident that I will bring my positive mindset and experience to help my teammates win in any situation in the match.”
Northamptonshire head coach John Sadler echoed Kaul’s enthusiasm and highlighted the value the experienced Indian bowler brings to the squad: “Sid has a lot of experience with the ball, he’s played a lot of first-class cricket and is keen to make a big impact when he joins the squad. He’s finished his domestic season over in India where he picked up some good form so hopefully he continues that on with us.”
Kaul is available for selection right away and could potentially make his debut for Northamptonshire in their upcoming match against Gloucestershire at Wantage Road on May 10th. With his proven track record and positive attitude, Siddarth Kaul is poised to make a significant contribution to Northamptonshire’s County Championship campaign.
