Nigerian woman, Oluwami Dosunmu-Ogunbi, makes history as the first black woman to earn a PhD in Robotics at the University of Michigan (video)

Oluwami Dosunmu-Ogunbi, a Nigerian, has made history as the first black woman to earn a Ph.D. in U-M Robotics at the University of Michigan.

Her remarkable achievement was celebrated during the university's commencement ceremony, where she spoke on the roles of advocates and mentors in realizing her aspirations.

Dosunmu-Ogunbi stressed the significance of inclusion in her address, reflecting on her journey as one of many PhD students initially uncertain of their goals but eventually finding ample opportunities to utilize engineering expertise for societal betterment.

Dosunmu-Ogunbi said, "A Michigan Engineer isn't solely a beacon of scientific and technological prowess. Rather, they embody intellectual curiosity, social consciousness, and the ability to craft collaborative solutions for societal challenges. They foster inclusivity and innovation, fostering a community dedicated to service for the greater good."

Similarly, Professor Rose-Margaret Ekeng-Itua has broken barriers by becoming the world's first black woman to achieve a Ph.D. in Cybernetics. Her research in the field, which explores information processing in both machines and biological systems, highlights her unwavering commitment to STEM education and excellence.

Watch Oluwami Dosunmu-Ogunbi speak in the video below.

Just as you always make it about gender or tribe. Your brain wiring has been tampered with and all you see is gender or tribe, so you think that is all others see.

Congratulations to a great "Agbadorian", and fellow compatriot Prof. Ekeng-Itua. Fantastic trailblazers, unlike some other women whose pre occupation is child trafficking, pregnant underage girls children harvesters, house help maltreaters etc. to mention but a few. These are the type of good news we should be hearing about Nigerians in the diaspora, not arrests for drug trafficking and assorted criminal activities.

You win lotto o having 3 girls. You will remember this comment later and bless me with prayers. You are favored having daughters... just train them and invest in their education. My dad, a father of all girls always said any parent that doesn't have a girl child is still TTC. He was thankful with his grey hair that God blessed him with girls who were obsessed with his well-being in old age and who didn't need wife's permission to as little as visit him. Just raise your girls right and watch them never forget to cherish you. Hospital staff will tell you straight up that daughters always show up, show out come through and deliver. Men can't tell women not to take care of their family but you see women, some (I said some o) will make their husband choose between them and their family

Why was it necessary to put 2 stories together and publishing the picture of one excluding the other. I think it is unfair on Prof Ekeng Itua to have her story hidden under another woman's story.
