Workmen have been seen at the establishment, which was shut on May 2, and have been taking down the signs, per The Marshall Independent.

The premises have already been put up for sale and are being advertised for $700,000, according to the outlet.

Another Taco John’s restaurant in Worthington, Minnesota – located around 60 miles from Sioux Falls in South Dakota, has also closed.

The Worthington location is on the market for $550,000.

Both restaurants have been removed from the restaurant’s list of locations on its website.

The closures have left fans in mourning, prompting them to share memories of eating at the Mexican restaurant.

“This was always a must-have when I came back to town,” one fan said as they reacted to the closures on social media.

“Sad. I remember the day it rolled into town,” another commenter said.

Taco John's, founded in 1969, has been part of the fast-food scene for decades and the chain has almost 400 stores nationwide.

The chain has a presence in more than 20 states, including Colorado, Massachusetts, Michigan, and Minnesota.

There are also Taco John’s restaurants located in Ohio, Tennessee, Washington, and Wisconsin.

Last year, Taco John’s restaurants in Kennewick, Washington; Minneapolis, and Champaign, Illinois, closed for good.

The Champaign restaurant closed as bosses revealed the building’s lease was about to end, per Smile Politely.

A note on the doors said the chain appreciated its customers over the years.

Restaurant closures in 2024

BOSSES at major dining chains have announced a series of restaurant closures. The U.S. Sun has compiled a list of the chain's affected.

  • Cracker Barrel: Stores in Medford, Oregon, Columbia, South Carolina, and Sacramento, California, have closed.
  • Mod Pizza: Bosses dramatically shuttered 27 shops, including in the state of California.
  • Frisch's Big Boy: Restaurant chiefs confirmed the closure of a restaurant in Covington, Kentucky.
  • Two Bucks: Four restaurants in Ohio are set to close.
  • Chili's: A restaurant in Port Arthur, Texas, has shut permanently.
  • Friendly's: Bosses confirmed an establishment in Ronkonkoma, Long Island will close.
  • Pizza Hut: A restaurant in Glen Falls, New York, closed at the end of March.
  • Denny's: Two restaurants in Boise and Nampa, Idaho, have closed.
  • Carl's Jr.: The first Boise, Idaho location has closed.

The restaurant had been open for around six years before it permanently closed.

Execs of renowned restaurant chains have taken the decision to close establishments.

Earlier this year, the top execs at Bloomin Brands revealed more than 40 restaurants across its portfolio of chains would close.

Outback Steakhouse, one of the chains under the Bloomin Brands banner, has been impacted.

Outback locations in Cedar Rapids, Iowa; Akron, Ohio; and the state of Hawaii have closed to the public.

OTHER RESTAURANT CLOSURES

Delaware’s only Bonefish Grill location and the seafood chain’s restaurant in Kansas City, Missouri, also closed.

Bloomin Brands bosses said the decision was taken to close underperforming establishments.

Applebee’s, a chain popular among families, has also seen widespread store closures.

President Tony Moralejo warned earlier this year the chain could see between 25 and 35 net shutdowns.

An Applebee’s restaurant in Waco, Texas, has recently closed, while another in Hudson, New York, is to shutter on May 19.

The U.S. Sun has reported on how Chili’s and Cracker Barrel have also seen store closures.

Last month, Cracker Barrel chiefs decided to close the chain’s last remaining restaurant in Sacramento, California.

Financial underperformance is a common factor in the decision behind a store closure, but execs at some companies have warned about the impact of crime.
