Entertainment gossip and news from Newsweek's network of contributors

Hailey Bieber took to Instagram on Thursday, May 9 to joyously reveal that she and her husband, Justin Bieber, are expecting their first child together, sending waves of excitement rippling through their adoring fans and fellow A-listers.

The Rhode founder shared a carousel on Instagram, opening with an endearing video of her and Justin amidst a scenic woodland backdrop. The carousel unfolds into a series of professionally captured photographs showcasing her baby bump, as she wore a lace-white ensemble, looking as if they were apart of a vow renewal ceremony.

In response to the heartwarming announcement, several celebrity friends flooded the comments section with their overflowing joy. "ahhhh here come the tears again ❤️," Kendall Jenner wrote. Kim Kardashian echoed the sentiment with, "I love you guys sooooo much!!!!" Jordyn Woods joined in, saying, "Omgggg so happy for you both 🥲🤍"

"Congratulations!!! Sending so much love so happy for you both ❤️❤️❤️," Ariana Greenblatt wrote, as Ellen Pompeo said, "I'm so so so happy for u guys." Paris Hilton wrote, "Congratulations love."

For the fan's part, they were just as excited about the news. "MOM AND DAD FINALLY," one user wrote. Another said, "I AM CRYINGGGGG 😭😭😭😭 I'M SO HAPPY FOR YOU TWO! you deserve this and much more."

This doesn't come as too big of a surprise, considering both Biebers have spoken about their desire to have kids in the past.

"I literally cry about this all the time! I want kids so bad, but I get scared," Hailey told The Sunday Times in May 2023, adding that the public eye creates extra pressure. "It's enough that people say things about my husband or my friends. I can't imagine having to confront people saying things about a child. We can only do the best we can to raise them. As long as they feel loved and safe."

As for Justin's part, he said, "I am going to have as many as Hailey is wishing to push out," Justin said on The Ellen Show in 2020, after she asked about if kids are in their future. "I'd love to have myself a little tribe. But, yeah, it's her body and whatever she wants to do...I think she wants to have a few." He then added that "Hailey still has some things she wants to accomplish as a woman, and I think...she's just not ready yet. And that's okay."
