One of the most loved waterside restaurants in the UK is right here in Liverpool.

Madre, nestled in a courtyard on the Albert Dock, is among the top 10 al fresco restaurants in the country. According to a Betway survey, based on TripAdvisor rankings, Google reviews and Instagram followers, the Mexican restaurant is one of the most popular.

With summer fast approaching and warmer days on the horizon, there will be plenty of people heading to Madre's courtyard to soak up the sunshine while dining outside. With Madre being on Liverpool's waterfront, customers can then walk off the tacos and nachos strolling along the Albert Dock or Pier Head.

Coming first on the list was the Waterside Inn, in Bray, followed by Midsummer House, Cambridge and Dukes 92, in Manchester. But next on the top 10 list was Madre, making it to number 4. Hooked on the Rocks, Cornwall, The Ship on the Shore, Edinburgh, Scotts, in London, Sargasso, in Margate and Fiume, in Battersea and Noel's Bar Birmingham also made the list.

According to a TripAdvisor review, Madre's food is "outstanding" , the reviewer said: "Went for the Madre's Table option, which was made more difficult for the Chef with 2 of us not eating red meat. The dishes were fantastic and filling. Really tasty selection of food and a great atmosphere. Can see why it was so busy - highly recommended."

Another commented: "Wow what fantastic food, but more than this the service was outstanding from start to finish in particular kieran on the front desk who was just gem. Visiting from Brighton for the football and we need a Madre on the south coast!"

While a third review reads: "In the warm early evening sunshine it was lovely being outside at the bench seating. It wasn’t overly busy so no delay in ordering and dishes arriving. What we had was delicious. Beginning with tasty mains accompanied by a bottle of chilled white wine. Next up was sweet dessert with coffee and cappuccino. Staff were lovely throughout, from arrival to end."
