Lidl enthusiasts have branded it an 'absolute joke' as a £2 beauty box containing £70 worth of products sold out within seconds. The highly sought-after box, featuring 20 full-size items from Lidl's Cien brand, including skincare, haircare, and fragrances, was released at 10am on Thursday (May 9) but was snapped up almost immediately, leaving many customers disappointed.
Frustrated shoppers took to social media to express their dismay, with some boxes appearing on eBay for £50.
One disgruntled buyer tweeted: "Lidl beauty box sold out and resellers hiking the prices."

Another questioned: "Did ANYONE manage to get the #LidlBeautyBox? It was a genuine promotion by Lidl but nobody seems to have managed to get a box? " A third highlighted the issue of reselling: "First of the eBay scalpers have listed the @LidlGB Lidl Beauty Box and for £50.00 absolute joke."
Speaking to the Mirror, Lidl acknowledged that 35,000 people attempted to buy the box this morning but did not disclose the number available for purchase.
Nevertheless, the supermarket hinted at a potential second release, with a spokesperson stating: "Due to unprecedented consumer demand, Lidl has announced it is looking into options for a second drop of its Lidl Beauty Box. Watch this space for more information from Lidl on the next drop."
The priciest item in the box is the facial cleansing brush, priced at £9.99, while it also contains Cien Myramaze Premium day and night creams that usually retail for £7.49 each.
