Arne Slot has offered a fresh update on when he could officially be appointed Liverpool manager, admitting he is likely entering his ‘last week’ with Feyenoord.

Jurgen Klopp will leave the Reds this summer, and Liverpool have already agreed a deal with the Eredivisie club for Slot to succeed the German at Anfield. However, his appointment is yet to be officially confirmed.

The Dutchman has previously insisted his appointment will be finalised soon rather than later, and has not been confirmed at the process dragging out

Liverpool and Feyenoord’s respective campaigns both come to an end on May 19, with the Dutch club’s second-place finish in the Eredivisie already confirmed. Meanwhile, the Reds have qualified for next season’s Champions League and clinched a top-three finish, though they still mathematically remain in Premier League title contention.

Speaking ahead of his likely penultimate game as Feyenoord manager, Slot revealed he expects his move to Liverpool to be announced in a matter of days.

"I say almost every time: it will only be a matter of days,” he said. “That's what I expect now.

“These kinds of things require a little more than just going to the store with a shopping list and checking off the groceries. These are things that have to be timed the right way and everything has to be worked out.

“There are sometimes some things attached to it. So that combination of factors means that it has not yet been communicated. But don't worry, that will undoubtedly happen.

"I'm not really someone who looks very far ahead, who would already think: 'In a week and a half from now, it might just be that I won't be driving this way anymore'.

“But when you are in De Kuip last Sunday and the match goes as it goes, then you have that moment of realisation. That feeling may increase a little next week, because it could easily be the last week."

He continued: "I am much more concerned with the fact that we have to play against NEC and how we are going to play against them, and perhaps things in the further future.

“I am not so much into looking back, but occasionally you are asked something, such as 'What was your most special moment?', or other questions that supporters sometimes want to ask.

“Then you sometimes look past the list and think: it really was a great time and what I experience every day is how great we can work at our training complex with fantastic people and a very nice group of players."
