Nottingham Forest’s new Morgan Gibbs-White asking price revealed – sources

Nottingham Forest have slapped an increased £60million price tag on Morgan Gibbs-White this summer amid financial concerns.

Speaking on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, senior correspondent Pete O’Rourke revealed that there will be “massive” interest in the midfielder with a “huge” transfer fee needed to let him go.

Described as the club’s “most sellable asset”, Football Insider had previously revealed that Tottenham are in pole position to land his signature ahead of Newcastle.

O’Rourke went on to reveal that Gibbs-White may look to join a higher-profile club in an attempt to get into the England squad in the future.

With the threat of financial fair play limitations still looming at the City Ground, Football Insider sources explained that the club may be forced to sell their best players this summer.

Nottingham Forest set demands for Morgan Gibbs-White transfer

With five goals and eight assists to his name in 35 Premier League appearances this season, Gibbs-White has established himself as Forest’s talisman.

His consistency has become clear, with his goals and assists tally the exact same as at this stage last season, regardless of his club’s low league position.

Interest from ambitious teams, the likes of Tottenham and Newcastle, is a testament to the quality he has shown in his time at the City Ground.

However, his exit would come as a blow to Nuno Espirito Santo’s side given his importance to the team.

O’Rourke explained that, regardless of whether Forest are relegated this season, interest in the midfielder will remain high, as an exit draws closer.

Having joined the club in 2022 for £25million, a £60million sale this summer would see Forest make a significant profit from his deal after just two years.

Given the extent of the financial issues Forest are facing, having already received a four-point deduction for financial breaches, Gibbs-White’s sale could be crucial to their situation.
