The Dodgers entered their three-game series in San Diego against the Padres riding a seven-game win streak. During those seven games they hit the seams out of the baseball and appeared to be a nigh unstoppable offensive force.

Then they ran into Padres righty Michael King. King was sensational in 7.0 innings of two-hit, shutout baseball with 11 strikeouts to help lead the way for San Diego to a 2-1 walk-off win.

Tyler Glasnow was outstanding for the Dodgers which allowed his club to hang around in a game they couldn't get anything going at the plate. He allowed just one run on one hit with 10 strikeouts in seven innings.

San Diego opened the scoring with a Luis Campusano long ball to center in the bottom of the third inning. King kept the Dodgers bats at bay through his seven innings. As soon as he exited, LA found a run.

In the top of the eighth, Mookie Betts laced a single to open the inning. Then Shohei Ohtani ripped a double to left center to put runners on second and third with nobody out. Freddie Freeman tied the game at 1-1 one pitch later with a sacrifice fly to left. The Dodgers squandered their chance to take the lead when Yuki Matsui was intentionally walked and Max Muncy grounded into an inning-ending double play.

Blake Treinen cruised through a perfect eighth with two strikeouts, but the Dodgers offense went down in order in the ninth, setting up the home team with a chance to win it with a run.

Campusano doubled off Dodgers reliever Michael Grove to start the bottom of the frame. Ha-Seong Kim struck out, but the newest Padre Luis Arraez followed with a line drive single to center that scored Campusano ahead of centerfielder Josh Outman's throw.

LA is now 5-5 in one-run games his season, and their longest win streak of the year is over. They're also now 2-4 against San Diego in the season series. The Dodgers are 26-14 through 40 games and remain 5.5 games up on the Padres for first in the National League West.

Game 2 of the series is Saturday at 5:40pm Pacific. Dodgers left-hander James Paxton is slated to be on the hill vs. Padres right-hander Matt Waldron.
