A Bolton pub will be transformed as a major brewery has announced millions of pounds of investment into pubs across the country.

Earlier this week, Dutch brewing giant Heineken said it is to invest £39 million in more than 600 of its UK pubs.

612 of its 2400 establishments, owned by subsidiary Star Pubs, are in line for improvements through the investment programme.

One of the pubs is The Grey Man on Hindley Road, Daisy Hill, which is due for refurbishment.

Its entry on Star Pubs' website reads: "A major investment will transform the Grey Man into a classic and comfortable community pub. Redecorations throughout the interior will breathe a new lease of life into this pub.

"We will be refurbishing all the trading areas of the pub including the bar servery and lounge. This welcomed investment will make the pub more appealing to all local demographics by providing a welcoming atmosphere.

"Externally, we will be installing all-new signage and lighting to catch the eye of passing trade. There will also be new decorations to the exterior of the pub to enhance the pub's new look.

"The Grey Man can operate as a community favourite. The introduction of a fantastic drinks-led offer and beer garden will give the pub the potential to appeal to a broader range of consumers."

It adds: "This pub has bags of potential, all we’re looking for someone who is community minded that has a real passion for people."

A document which details the refurbishment is linked on the site, showing teal coloured interior walls, new leather on the upholstery, a fireplace, new wallpaper and different shelving behind the bar.

Outside, there will be new planting in the beer garden, new festive lights, a repaired roof structure and new garden furniture.

A spokesperson for the company said: "Star Pubs is keen to undertake a refurbishment of the Grey Man in Westhoughton and is actively recruiting to find the right operator to take this on.

"Anyone interested should visit the www.starpubs.co.uk website for more information."

62 long-term closed pubs are also set to be reopened this year, none of which have yet been named as being in Bolton.

Elsewhere, The Whitakers Arms in Accrington will benefit from the investment.
