Eberechi Eze: Big update on release clause as Man City and Tottenham swoop

Crystal Palace will have to fight off interest in Eberechi Eze if they want to keep hold of the attacking midfielder this summer.

Speaking on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, senior correspondent Pete O’Rourke revealed there have been conflicting reports over whether Eze has a release clause in his deal.

The England international signed a new contract with the Eagles last November to keep him at Selhurst Park until 2027.

O’Rourke revealed Manchester City have previously expressed an interest in signing the 25-year-old, while Tottenham are monitoring his situation in south London.

Eberechi Eze could leave Crystal Palace this summer

Palace are understandably keen to keep hold of their prized asset after he’s put in a number of outstanding performances since arriving from QPR in 2020.

Eze has scored eight goals and laid on five assists this season as he continues to put forward his case for more international recognition.

The attacking midfielder has played a key role in the Eagles’ recent upturn in form under new boss Oliver Glasner, with his side now five games unbeaten.

Selhurst Park chiefs will be hoping the Englishman’s long-term future be with the Croydon-based club, but they are expected to face a battle to keep hold of him.

Reports have suggested Eze’s contract doesn’t contain a “straightforward release clause” and any deal will be “complex”, with percentages due to himself, his former club and Palace.

The Eagles are only believed to be interested in entertaining offers upwards of £60million to let him leave the club this summer.
