Nicky Butt reveals stunning speech Sir Alex Ferguson gave to Man Utd players that made him say 'wow'

Nicky Butt has opened up on the incredible speech Sir Alex Ferguson gave his players at half-time during their 1999 Champions League final against Bayern Munich.

United became the first English club to win the Treble when they came from behind to beat Bayern at the Nou Camp in the most dramatic fashion.

Trailing 1-0 heading into injury time, United equalised through Teddy Sheringham before Ole Gunnar Solskjaer snatched victory for the Premier League side in the third minute of added time.

A new Amazon documentary titled '99' covering United's legendary Treble-winning side from the 1998/99 season has now been produced to celebrate the 25^th anniversary of the historic achievement.

The documentary had its premiere in Manchester on Thursday night, with United stars past and present attending the event.

Several of the Ferguson’s legendary 'Class of 92' including Butt were among those to attend the premiere.

Speaking to SPORTbible on the red carpet, Butt revealed how a motivating speech from Ferguson at half-time inspired United to come from behind to beat Bayern Munich.

When asked to reflect on the one speech that stood out to him from that season, Butt said: "I think my favourite thing the manager said was in the Champions League final.

"He said 'don't walk off that pitch and not be able to grab a trophy'. And that was it, you just sit there and go 'wow'.

"That's pretty much it. Don't walk off regretting it because you may never get the chance to get your hands on that trophy again.

"You don't want to be the one looking sad it on the pitch and do all you can to pick it up. That was part of his talk.

"That resonated with me forever on."

The documentary, which will be released to the public on May 17, is made up of three parts and will feature interviews with key figures, including manager Ferguson.

Gary Neville, Paul Scholes and David Beckham also featured in the documentary, which will allow fans to see never-before-seen archive footage as well as behind-the-scenes video from the historic event.
