Gogglebox's beloved duo, Mary Killen and Giles Wood, have candidly discussed their marriage following concerns raised by Giles' playful comment that they "hardly talk". The eccentric couple are well-known for their light-hearted banter, with Giles humorously suggesting they're "incompatible".

Despite being wedded for 30 years and parents to two adult daughters, Mary admitted in a recent interview that their on-screen repartee has sparked worry among viewers.

When asked if audiences can identify with their marital dynamic, Giles commented: "There's a friction there."

Mary, originally from Larne, agreed but emphasised that fans wouldn't want to see them separate.

"I think they like us for disagreeing agreeably. They like us fighting but not splitting up," she expressed, reports Belfast Live.

Giles added: "When we started, there [were comments about us] on Twitter, and although we don't watch Twitter, I did look at it once or twice, with morbid curiosity, at three in the morning."

He further shared with Idler: "Some were favourable and they said 'relationship gold', meaning, 'I wish I could have a row with my husband or wife and then laugh at it at the end.' Some families have three-day sulks when they fall out with each other."

The couple's love story began when they were merely 21, and they've now been blissfully married for over three decades. Mary has previously revealed that the show ultimately repaired their marriage.

Chatting with the Daily Star, she shared: "Giles and I were like ships that pass in the night. I got up early, he went to bed late and we rarely even ate together."

She added: "I know a few couples who have split up because they have decided they can't stand one another."

"Watching television together reminded us how much we enjoyed the same jokes."

Since their first appearance on Gogglebox in 2015, which has allowed them more time together, the couple has captured the hearts of viewers.

Their endearing habit of calling each other "nutty" is often heard on the Channel 4 programme.
