Moraa trains her eyes on USTAF Grand Prix after Doha win

Moraa clocked 1:57:91 ahead of Britain's Reekie.

World champion Mary Moraa says she is now training her eyes on the USTAF Grand Prix in Los Angeles set for May 18.

This is after she stunned Britain’s Jemma Reekie to win the Diamond League race in Doha, Qatar.

Moraa clocked 1:57:91 as Reekie, the world indoor silver medalist settled for 1:58:42.

Reekie led her opponents in the race but she was unable to get past with Moraa in the last lap who unleashed a closing burst to the finishing line.

Benin's Noelle Yarigoho who emerged third behind Reekie in Glasgow, was third again during the competition.

Ethiopia's Habitam Alemu came forth as Uganda's former world champion Halimah Nakaayi followed in the fifth position.

Two-time World Cross Country champion Beatrice Chebet also produced an impressive performance during the race recording 14:26.98.

World 10,000m bronze medalist Taye Ejgayehu posted 14:29.26 followed by Medina Eisa (14:34.11).

Moraa could not hide her joy after the win noting it came as a surprise.

“The race has been well, I have really enjoyed. It was my first, I find myself emotional but I am happy about it,” she said.

This was Moraa’s second win of the season after the Kipkeino Classic Continental Tour where she clocked 1:57:96.
