Most parts of the country are expected to experience sunny intervals, the Kenya Meteorological Department has reported.

In a statement released on Saturday, Met said there will be a significant reduction in rainfall likely across various regions.

"However, occasional rainfall is also expected, particularly in Western, Rift Valley, Central Kenya, and the Lake Victoria Basin," it added.

According to a five-day forecast from Friday, May 10, to Tuesday, May 14, areas in the Highlands West of Rift Valley, the Lake Victoria Basin, and the Rift Valley will have sunny mornings.

This applies to Siaya, Kisumu, Homabay, Migori, Kisii, Nyamira, Trans Nzoia, Baringo, Uasin Gishu, Elgeyo-Marakwet, Nandi, Nakuru, Narok, Kericho, Bomet, Kakamega, Vihiga, Bungoma, Busia and West Pokot Counties.

The afternoons will be characterised by showers and thunderstorms over a few places while the nights will have chances of showers over a few places.

The maximum temperatures in the aforementioned regions will range from 31 to 32 degrees Celsius, while the minimum temperatures will be 12 degrees Celsius and 15 degrees Celsius.

Met stated that the North-western region (Turkana and Samburu Counties) is likely to experience sunny intervals during the mornings and afternoons, with partly cloudy nights.

The maximum temperatures will be 35 to 36 degrees Celsius, with the minimum between 15 and 17 degrees Celsius.

In the highlands East of the Rift Valley (including Nairobi County) (Nyandarua, Laikipia, Nyeri, Kirinyaga, Murang'a, Kiambu, Meru, Embu, Tharaka and Nairobi Counties), the morning will have cloudy breaking into sunny intervals.

The afternoons will have showers over a few high-ground areas with partly cloudy nights.

The maximum temperatures will range between 25 to 26 degrees Celsius with the minimum temperatures being 11 and 12 degrees Celsius.

The north-eastern region (Marsabit, Mandera, Wajir, Garissa and Isiolo Counties) is likely to have sunny intervals in the mornings and afternoons.

The nights will be partly clouds.

The temperatures will range from 17 degrees Celsius (minimum temperatures) and 36 degrees Celsius (maximum degrees).

The south-eastern lowlands region (Kitui, Makueni, Machakos, Kajiado and Taita Taveta Counties) will have sunny mornings and afternoons with partly cloudy nights.

The temperatures will range from 14 degrees Celsius (minimum temperatures) and 34 degrees Celsius (maximum degrees).

The Coast region (Mombasa, Tana River, Kilifi, Lamu and Kwale Counties) will have sunny intervals in the mornings and afternoons except Monday.

Then, the weatherman forecasts that the afternoon will have a chance of showers over a few places.

The maximum temperatures will range between 32 to 33 degrees Celsius with the minimum temperatures being 23 and 25 degrees Celsius.
