GODDARD, Kan. (KAKE) - Authorities say a young man is now in surgery and doing well after being shot on Saturday evening in the parking lot of a Goddard Walmart.

Just before 5 p.m. Saturday, police and emergency crews were dispatched to the 18600 block of Kellogg Dr. in Goddard at the Walmart Supercenter where one person had been shot inside of a car.

The victim, a teenage male, is now in surgery and doing well, authorities said. 

Police at the scene told KAKE News that one person is now in custody as a result of the shooting and there is no further threat to the public.

Authorities say they are still investigating what led up to the shooting, but believe there may have been up to two people inside the car with the victim during the shooting. 

The Sedgwick County Sheriff's Office is investigating.
