Two division rivals meet when the Braves and Mets square off on this week's iteration of 'Sunday Night Baseball.'

Atlanta entered the year with seismic expectations, on the heels of two domineering regular seasons and two early postseason exits. And while things haven't quite gone according to plan — ace Spencer Strider is out for the year, and the core group of hitters has struggled — the Braves nonetheless are performing like one of the best teams in MLB.

The Mets managed to put a disastrous 0-5 start in the rearview mirror, instead shaping into a competitive, middle-of-the-pack team. Their pitching has been fantastic, thanks in large part to a bullpen led by Edwin Diaz and the revelation of Reed Garrett, while they wait for their most prominent position players to hit their stride.

This marks the second series between the Braves and Mets this season. In early April, New York took two out of three from the Braves in Atlanta, winning one of the games by a whopping 16-4 rout.

Sunday's pitching matchup pits young right-hander Bryce Elder (5.28 ERA) against hard-throwing right-hander Luis Severino (2.93 ERA).
