The Galaxy S24 family shipped with Samsung’s ‘Galaxy AI,’ which is the company’s first AI-powered feature set that elevates the smartphone experience. So far, this addition has proven to be successful, as Samsung recently regained the top spot by beating Apple and becoming the largest smartphone vendor in Q1 2024. We expect to see more of these features added to the Galaxy S25 range next year, but ‘Battery AI’ is something that the company is rumored to introduce before it officially announces its 2025 flagship family.

New rumor claims that Galaxy Z Flip 6 will be the first recipient of Battery AI, boosting its runtime by up to 30 minutes

Samsung’s foldable smartphones sporting the clamshell design have always shipped with smaller batteries. The Galaxy Z Flip 5 from last year featured a measly 3,700mAh cell, which is to be expected from devices that tout such a form factor as there is extremely limited space to work with. Of course, those running these models as their daily drivers have likely complained about the ‘less than stellar’ runtime, and according to PandaFlash on X, Samsung intends to rectify this problem with Battery AI.

A rumor claims that the Galaxy Z Flip 6 will ship with Battery AI baked into the foldable smartphone, with the battery life apparently getting up to a 30-minute boost. The Galaxy Z Flip 6 is said to debut later this year alongside the Galaxy Z Fold 6, with Samsung reportedly bringing in both the Exynos 2400 and Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 versions of its more affordable foldable handset.

What is strange to hear is that Battery AI will only launch for one model but not for the Galaxy Z Fold 6, primarily because the one with the smaller battery capacity requires this feature the most. With the feature supposedly arriving for the entire Galaxy S25 series next year, what better way to improve Battery AI than to release it for various current-generation models so it can be improved further?

Our take is that Battery AI will arrive for the Galaxy S24 range, the upcoming Galaxy Z Flip 6, and Galaxy Z Fold 6, as Samsung will unlikely give one model more importance just because it sports a smaller cell than the rest of the lineup. With the Galaxy S25 series, the Exynos 2500 and Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 variants are expected to have a more capable NPU that will further improve battery life, so it will be interesting to see how Battery AI gets refined over a few months.
