Bengaluru, May 12: In a shocking incident in Karnataka, a couple allegedly aborted a foetus while looking for a boy. However, the aborted foetus turned out to be a male. The alleged incident occurred with a couple named Murugesh and Anitha, residents of Bethamangala near KGF. Police officials said the incident occurred in the Malur taluk of Kolar district.

According to a report in the Times of India, Murugesh and Anitha visited the Sanjana scanning centre on Wednesday, May 8, to seek sex determination. While a sex determination test is illegal, the couple were informed that the three-month-old foetus was a female. Karnataka Shocker: Man Chops Off 16-Year-Old Girl’s Head, Takes It Along With Him After Their Proposed Marriage Put Off.

As the couple had two daughters, they sought help from the staff at the scanning centre. One of the nurses at the Sanjana Scanning Centre told Murugesh and Anitha that the "female" foetus could be changed to "male". However, the nurse also told the couple that it would cost them Rs 25,000. To this, the couple agreed.

Anitha developed pain after she took a few pills that were given to her by the nurse. Dr Jagadish, district health officer, said that the foetus was aborted soon after the woman took the pills. To Anitha's shock, the foetus was a male.
