One person was killed while at least nine others were injured after a coach, a container truck and two cars collided in southern Binh Phuoc Province on Monday.

At around 10:30 a.m., the container truck on the DT741 road collided with another truck and a car moving in the same direction in Dong Phu District.

The collision caused the container truck and the car to ram into the median strip, break a lamppost and crash into a coach coming from the opposite direction in the other lane.

Hung, a witness at the scene, said people in the vehicles were screaming and trying to escape.

"People on the sides of the streets helped the victims and called for the ambulance. A while later, the front part of the container truck was engulfed in flames," he said.

Nguyen Quang Tien, an ambulance driver for the Binh Phuoc General Hospital, said that when he arrived at the scene, the driver and his assistant on the truck had multiple injuries. Both were taken to the Binh Phuoc hospital. The drive was confirmed dead by the hospital later.

A representative of Phuong Trang Company, which manages the coach, said besides the driver, there were 26 passengers on board. The collision left the driver with broken arms and legs, while a female passenger had several leg injuries. Both were hospitalized.

"We have sent people to the scene to cooperate with authorities and figure out the cause of the accident, as well as help passengers," the company representative said, adding that those not injured had been transferred to another vehicle to continue their journey.

Traffic police of Binh Phuoc deployed three vehicles and dozens of officers to the scene to put out the fire and rescue people.
