Der͏rick ͏Lewis show͏cas͏ed a treme͏ndous perfo͏͏rmance in his l͏a͏st fight aga͏inst R͏o͏dr͏ig͏o Nascime͏nto at ͏UFC ͏St. Lo͏uis͏. Th͏e ‘Black͏ Beast’ knocked out the Brazi͏lian in the thir͏͏d round to assert h͏is ͏dominance. The heavyweight was͏ comi͏ng off from a depressing lo͏ss against ͏Jailton Almeida, at UFC Sao Paulo last year. However, it se͏ems like the c͏lassic knockout ͏king Lewis is final͏ly ba͏ck. An interesting fact is that ‘BlackBeast’ continued his journey in the UFC despite thinking about retiring multiple times.

Back in 2017, Lewis fought against Mark Hunt, but he was badly defeated by the New Zealand fighter, being knocked out in the 4th round. At the time, Lewis stated that he was considering retirement after the horrible defeat. Nonetheless, ‘The Black Beast’ continued his endeavor in the UFC, and after 7 years, he stands as one of the most cherished heavyweights. And as per a recent update, he seems to have made around $10 million in his career. But, many fans were quick to contest this claim.

R͏enowned as the ‘kno͏c͏͏ko͏ut ki͏n͏͏g’ of t͏he promo͏tio͏n,͏ Lewis may have amassed suffi͏cient wealth to retire. If we go through the officially available data on the internet, we can see that Lewis’s net worth is approximately $2 million. However, it must be noted that the data point often misses valuable statistics to count the numbers. Nonetheless, his official standalone salary from the promotion stands at $300000-$400000. So, how is it possible for him to have an official net worth of $10 million? Well, fans have expressed their doubts over this topic as well.

Starting off, a fan seems to have a sarcastic opinion about the earnings of the UFC star.

“He’s made way more than 10 million.stop spreading fake news this isn’t boxing he’s fkn rich”

According to his official earnings, Derrick Lewis might have made somewhere around $5-6 million from his fights in the UFC. It must be noted that only champions are handed over the PPV points and no other fighter is eligible to claim that.

“His purses are publicly disclosed. He’s made just under 5 million in 15 fights. And if you’re one of those people who believes Dana White is handing out secret checks to non title holders who aren’t in on ppv points, you’re so cute. 10 million is sadly way WAY high to be claiming he made.”

Furthermore, another fan emphasized that the fact that he made $10 million absolutely baseless considering the fact that Lewis is nothing more than a boring fighter. A bit too harsh?

“No way he’s made 10m in his career. Never been a champ, doesn’t sell ppv’s, has been in a couple of the most boring fights in heavyweight history. That’s a silly thing to put out there, it’s not even close to true.”

The payment that boxing stars receive is much higher than what UFC fighters make. To put it into perspective, Ryan Garcia made around $50 million in a single fight against Devin Haney, and it wasn’t even for a belt.

“If he was in boxing, he would have made quadruple of that amount”

Before 2015, the UFC allowed fighters to display private sponsors on their gear, but after that, they completely banned it. This sponsorship was one of the main sources of income for fighters, and its revocation marked the end of multiple revenue streams for them. If private sponsors had been still there then Lewis’s earnings would have been more than what the reports suggest.

“He would’ve made more like 20 or 30 million if they bring sponsorships back”

Last but not least, a fan argued about the pay structure of the promotion. It must be noted that UFC’s payment structure has been controversial since its inception and it forced several fighters to file an anti-trust lawsuit against the promotion.

“I’m not even hating just putting it into perspective on how low the ufc pays there fighters. ryan garcia made like 50 mil from one fight”

Nonetheless, Derrick Lewis’s career earnings might be different in reality and different on paper. What do you think is the total net worth of the ‘Black Beast’? State your thoughts in the comments below.
