After emerging victorious in both Miami and Charleston, the tennis star seems to be taking hold of the clay courts, as she recently made it to the semi-finals in Rome. While every other athlete has a story of the days of struggle, the WTA veteran recently came forward to narrate one of hers.

During her early days of developing a love for the sport, Collins used to be a part of the University of Florida’s team. Explaining how she had to go through a phase where she barely received a chance of playing, Danielle Collins said, “And I believe some of the individual tournaments in the fall and then the spring, I was playing no 6th in the lineup and only played a few matches, maybe like two or three matches I think. and then I wasn’t playing in the lineup.” However, despite the fact that she didn’t get to play enough in her early days, the WTA star gave out a positive gesture by revealing that she understood how things worked.

“At that time, it honestly didn’t feel that shocking because our team was so good…it was lot of juniors and seniors who had the experience of winning a national championship and I was like I get it, they’ve already won a championship,” Collins added, revealing how she earned a sense of understanding right from her early days and used it in her future endeavors.

After spending enough time in Florida, the tennis star eventually moved to the University of Virginia, where she seemed to have applied the learnings and therefore proved to be a completely different being. Although Danielle Collins derived enough learning from her days of sportsmanship at the University of Florida, she eventually decided to shift from the institution, seeking a new home at the University of Virginia. According to the reports and what Collins told the media, the tennis star had to move on from Florida because she realized that she wasn’t getting enough time to focus on her game.

Soon after she completed her freshman year, the WTA pro moved into the University of Virginia where she not only focused on her game but also made evident improvements. In 2016, the tennis star made her name heard by graduating as the No.1 college player in the country, along with having two NCAA singles titles in her portfolio. This shows that Collins always had control over her life, as she made decisions that suited her the best.
